First Light Lamps Successfully Renews ISO 9001 Certification for Another Year

We’re pleased to announce that First Light Lamps Ltd has successfully renewed our ISO 9001 certification for another year. This annual renewal, certified by BSI (British Standards Institution), reinforces our commitment to quality management excellence.

Importantly, it also demonstrates our continued dedication to maintaining high standards in xenon and krypton flash lamp manufacturing and customer service.

What BSI Reviewed During the Audit

BSI’s comprehensive audit evaluated every aspect of our operations. For example, it covered our quality management documentation as well as our production floor practices.

Because the assessment is thorough, it gives customers additional confidence. In particular, it confirms our quality systems align with international expectations for precision flash lamp manufacturing.

Technical Excellence and Team Dedication

Over the past year, we’ve invested in our manufacturing capabilities. In particular, we installed and commissioned two new Citizen Machinery UK CNC turning centres (L12-VII LFV and L20-VIII LFV).

These advanced machines feature Linear Friction Vibration (LFV) technology. As a result, they enable improved surface finishes and tighter tolerances on critical lamp components.

Continuous Improvement in Manufacturing and QC

Our commitment to continuous improvement is a core principle of ISO 9001. Accordingly, we continue to optimise production processes across the factory.

We’ve also implemented enhanced quality control measures throughout our workflow. This includes precision glass forming, electrode assembly, and final electrical testing. In addition, we carry out spectral verification where required.

Why Process Control Matters for Flash Lamp Performance

Manufacturing Xenon flash lamps and krypton flash lamps is technically demanding. Each lamp must meet precise specifications for gas pressure, electrode positioning, and envelope integrity.

These factors directly influence performance and reliability. Therefore, they are controlled carefully to support the optical output our customers depend on across the 200nm–1400nm spectral range.
