CNC Machine Operator

First Light Lamps is a global leader in the supply of Xenon and Krypton lamps for the photonics industry, based just outside of Ely, Cambridgeshire and are now seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to support the team with producing high quality products for global customers.

SALARY: £28,000 – £33,000 per annum – based on skills and experience.

LOCATION: Ely, Cambridgeshire (CB6)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 6am and 5pm.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a new job opportunity for a CNC Machine Operator with knowledge of CNC lathes and Fanuc control systems. Skills and experience within a production environment is essential along with a positive ‘right first time’ attitude.

Working as the lead CNC Machine Operator you will be part of a smaller team within a larger Production environment. Your role, based on your experience, could include training staff and organising the flow of work through the department whilst liaising with department supervisors and managers.

As part of the role, there will be a responsibility for basic maintenance of the machines, supporting the Engineering department with problem solving equipment issues and providing excellent communication to ensure there is limited downtime for machinery with the aim to minimise waste and maximise productivity and efficiency.

As the CNC Machine Operator, you would be responsible for the manufacturing of tungsten, brass, stainless steel, PEI and copper parts from raw material bar. You will work accurately to drawings, checking and inspecting parts in line with procedures.

DUTIES

Your duties as CNC Machine Operator will include:

• CNC manufacturing of tungsten, brass, stainless steel, PEI and copper parts from raw material bar.
• Setting up various CNC machines, changing tools, collets and loading bar feeder.
• Selecting programs, adjusting where necessary and creating new programs for new components.
• Working accurately to drawings, checking and inspecting parts during manufacturing run and following procedures.
• Checking of documentation before starting and signing off work orders after completion.
• Check and maintain machinery daily. Problem solving equipment issues.
• Working to minimise waste and maximise productivity and efficiency.
• Working to the agreed delivery schedule.
• Cleaning and plating of components.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience and knowledge of CNC lathes and Fanuc control systems
• Previous experience in a similar Production environment
• Good troubleshooting, fault-finding and repair skills
• Self-motivated
• Practical
• Have an adaptable hands-on approach to your workload
